Easterday has two facilities for the sorting and packing of onions. Our original location in Pasco, WA is still the largest and is where most of our yellow-spanish are packed. In 2005 we started a second operation in Othello, WA. This packing house is where most all of Easterday’s red and white onions are packed.

Sorted by Size

Easterday's state of the art packing facilities guarantees that customers receive the size of onion they choose in a bag.The new sizing machine pictured on your right optically sizes each onion that passes through its cameras, taking a picture of each onion 24 times. The onion then proceeds over a weigh bridge where the perfect size onion is tipped into the customer's selected size and bag.

                                                                        "Sewn" Bags

After being placed into a bin, the bag is filled and sewn closed. The sewn bag feature is one that is new to the onion industry. Clients have become accustomed to the new practice and are requesting "sewn" bags when they contact sales.

“Consumer” Pack

consumer packs
Onions not placed into 50#, 25#, or 20kg are normally destined for Consumer Packs. These packs include 16/3’s, 24/2’s, 14/3’s, etc and are available in both the standard clip poly-net as well as the vertical European style bags. The later includes recipes, tips for handling and contact information that allow them to make suggestions and/or ask us questions.

                                                            Automatically "Palletized"

Many of Easterday's pallets are automatically "palletized." The machine which is featured on your left contains the bags in a form until the pallet is complete to stacking height. Once complete, the pallet is moved to an automatic wrapper, which tightly wraps each pallet to decrease the likelihood of your pallet being unstraight or tipping over. These specially stacked pallets are ideal when shipping on export containers to Asia and other destinations.
